8-31-12

Today I guided Chuck and John for salmon. We hit the water at first light and started the morning as I always do, starting at the low holes and working my way up stream running T-55 Flatfish. At the first few stops there were no fish so we began working our way further up. We finally found some fish that wanted to bite and we went to work on them. We ended up hooking 6 salmon today but only landed 3. Again they were nice clean fish and full of fight.

Today I guided Ryan, Brian, and Eric for salmon. We stopped at the first hole on the way up the river and again it wasn't long until the first fish went in the box. We worked this hole and ended up catching another fish before moving on. We worked our way up the river and were marking fish but couldn't get them to bite the lures so we switched over to roe and It wasn't long after when the fish started coming in the boat. We ended up hooking 10 salmon but only managed to get 5 into the box. It was another great day on the water with nice chrome fish.

Today I guided Nyal and Dean for salmon. We hit the river at day light and within seconds it was fish on! Dean was the first to hookup and Nyal was a close second. We started the morning with a double!! We continued to fish and at each and every stop we got bit. It was around 11:00 when we landed the last of our fish and headed to shore to clean them. Of the 6 fish that we put in the box all of them were silver bullets. All of the fish were taken on T-50 lures. It was another great day on the water.

Today I guided Bill, Rod and Terry for salmon. We headed straight to where I left off on Monday and the fish were there! Pass after pass we were getting bit and the fish were coming into the net. On each and every pass we had at least one bite and on several of them we had a couple bites. We ended the day hooking 10 fish and missing 3 or 4 more with a total of 5 going into the box. It was a great day on the water and to see these fish holding in the same spot as a few days ago is a great sign. I will be back on the water soon and will keep you guys updated!

We have several days available in September, so let me know if you want to get on the books!

Today I guided Armen and Jeanette for salmon. We stopped at the first hole this morning and within minutes Jeanette had a fish on. She fought it like a pro and we soon had it in the box. We worked our way up river but the fish were few and far between. It was nearing 1:00 when I finally found a school of fish that wanted to play and we went to work on them. We made 4 passes in the hole and managed to hook 5 fish, however, they were playing hard to get and we only managed to land 2 of them. In the end we hooked 6 fish today but only 3 made it into the box. The fish seem to be holding better every day so I assume we will start having a little better luck getting them into the net.

Today I guided Doug and Ishai for Salmon. We headed back to the Sacramento river today as there seems to be alot more fish over here. We started working our way up stream hitting all of the holes but there just weren't many fish in the system.  We finally made our way up river and found some fish so we set up to see what we could do. Within minutes Doug hooked a nice salmon and we fought it to the boat. We then went up and made another pass and it was Ishai's turn. This was his first ever salmon and after a little bit of coaching he fought the fish like a pro. This salmon was a screamer and as we were fighting it it jumped 5-6 feet out of the water several times, but some how the hooks managed to stay in and we soon had the fish in the box. We continued to work the area and hooked several more fish but never managed to land them. During the fight with the jumping fish Doug snapped a few photo's and some how managed to catch the fish in mid air. It was a cool photo so I put it up for all to see. In the end it was another great day on the water!

Today I guided Steve and Bob for salmon. I decided to try the Feather river today and see if we would have any better luck at landing the fish. We hit the water and right off the bat it was fish on. Bob was the first to land a nice sized 10 pounder. Shortly after Steve hooked in to a nice fish and we quickly slipped it into the net.  We continued to work the other stretches of the river and ended up landing another nice salmon and losing 3 others. In the end it was another great day on the water.

Today I guided Steve Parker and his crew. We hit the water at first light and at our first stop we hooked 3 salmon on flatfish but only landed one. We made another pass with no luck so we moved on. At the next stop we got bit a few times but none of the bites stuck so we went on our way. We bounced around checking all of the likely spots, to no avail. We ended the trip around 1:00 as it was scorching hot and the bite had slowed down. We ended up hooking several fish today and losing all but 1 of them, but that is how it goes some days with salmon. The fish are as fresh as I have ever seen and they are putting up a fight!

Today I guided Rick and Estelle and had my trusty deck hand along as well. We hit the water at first light and Estelle was the first to strike. Within minutes she had a beautiful 30 pound hen in the box. We began working our way up river hitting all of the holes and it seemed as if each hole was holding a few fish. At nearly every stop we were hooking up but we were having a hell of a time getting them to the boat. The fish are so fresh that they jump and roll the whole time that you fight them and have been very good at spitting the hooks. We ended the day hooking 9 fish, but only landing 2. It was another great day on the water.

It's Salmon time! I couldn't take it any more and had to go on a recon mission for salmon. Rick and I headed up to Ord Bend and the fish were there for the taking. We back trolled flatfish and ended up hooking 7 and landing 4 in the 20-28 pound range. There were tons of fish moving thru and they are as clean as ever. I will start guiding next week and stay on them until duck season starts. We still have plenty of availability if you would like to get on the water and battle some of these hard fighting, great eating fish.
