Egg Salvage
As most of you know Regina is working with CWA on their egg salvage operation and it has been a huge success! It is a really cool program and is helping to save some of our local mallard population that is lost each year when ducks choose to nest in AG fields. Due to the lack of natural nesting cover in the valley each year ducks turn to crop lands as an alternative nesting habitat and when farm work overlaps with prime nesting time losses occur. Regina is working with farmers and landowners to gain access to these fields prior to work being done so that they can rope drag the field and search for the nests. When a nest is found the eggs are collected and taken to a local hatchery. The eggs are hatched and the ducks raised until they can nearly fly and are released back into the wild!! As of now she is kicking ass and I couldn't be more proud of her and the program! If you have any questions regarding the program or know of any land owners who may be interested feel free to give her a call at (530)870-7589.
