1-15-11

Today I guided Scott Seidenstricker from Reno, Nevada on a pig hunt. We started the morning driving from vantage point to vantage point glassing for pigs. We spotted two lone boars that gave us the slip and as we were headed to another vantage point we rounded the corner and a 200 pound boars was just standing in the road looking at us. Scott wasted no time getting the cross hairs on the boar and as he took of his safety I anticipated a BOOM, but all I heard was a click! Some how in the middle of all the action Scott had short stroked his action and the bullet never fed into the chamber. At the click the pig took off never to be seen again. We then worked our way into the South part of the ranch and caught 2 pigs wallowing in a little pond. As soon as we saw the pigs they started working up hill towards some brush, so we took off in hopes of catching them. We snuck up the ridge and had no more than sat down when one of the pigs walked out of the brush and the rest is history. Scott made a great shot and the pig fell dead in it's tracks. It is almost time for the pig hunts to really get going and I can't wait.
