Today I guided Booner, Darryl, and Ken for salmon. We headed back to the Feather River and again it was fish on!!! At the first stop we hooked 6 fish and got a few in the box. We kept moving around and at all of the stops we got bit. We had alot of hook ups today but only managed to put 4 in the box. Most of the bites came from lures, however, we did get a couple on roe. It was another good trip!!

Today I guided Chris and Scott for salmon. We decided to head over to the Feather River and see what it had to offer and we weren't dissapointed. At each and every stop we got a few bites and it wasn't long before we had a box full of fish. Some of the fish were caught on lures and the others on roe. All in all it was a great day on the water with a couple of great guys!

Today I guided Matt and Eric for salmon. We hit the water early and started back trolling T-55 Flatfish. At the first stop we hooked 2 fish but only landed one. We made our way up stream and Eric hooked up and landed a 30+ lb. buck. We made another pass with no luck and moved on. At the next couple of stops we did not have any action so we headed back down stream. At the last stop of the day we got into the fish vertical jigging roe and landed the rest of our limits. It was another good day on the water with some nice clean fish!

Today I guided Jim and Terry for salmon. We started the morning with lures and Terry was the first to hook up. She fought the fish for a minute and it did not look right, as the fish was not fighting to well. We soon found out why as Terry landed a 21 inch striper! We threw it in the box and went back to fishing. We continued to work the hole and Terry landed another fish, but this time it was her first salmon! We had a couple more bites in this hole and then we moved on. At the next stop Jim got in on the action and went 2 passes for 2 salmon in the box. We called it quits around 1:00 with 4 salmon and 1 striper in the box. It was a great day on the water and Terry got her first 2 salmon ever.

Today I guided Dan, Wayne, Randy, and Pat for salmon. We headed up to road 29 and within minutes we had a fish on but Wayne just could not hold him. We headed up to the next hole and within minutes Pat had one on and up to the boat but it spit the hook at the last second. We made another pass and Pat was hooked up again, but this time he got it to the boat and into the box. We worked this hole over a few more times and ended up landing 3 more fish and lost 3 more. We then headed back down to 29 and hooked 3 more and only landed 1. We hit a couple of more spots on our way back down river and hooked a couple more fish but never got them to the boat. It was a great day on the water with plenty of action!

Today I guided Destry and Dave for salmon. We hit the water at first light and started working our way up river. At each and every stop the water looked good but I just couldn't find any fish. We kept working our way up stream and finally Destry hooked up and landed a 30 pounder. We worked that hole for awhile longer and had another bite but it did not stick. We then began working our way back down stream and Dave hooked up, but before we could get our lures in and the boat turned the fish spooled him! That was a first for me. We never did get to see the fish but it bit hard and ran even harder, Dave guessed it must have been 100 pounds! We continued working our way down stream and had a few more bites but we could not make them stick. It was around noon and Destry wasn't feeling well so we called it a day. It seemed as if we did not have bad luck we would have had no luck at all! I guess that is why they call it fishing, not catching. Either way it was a good day on the water.

Today I guided Joel and Jack for salmon. Today was a great day on the water and the fish were really wanting the lures! We got bit at every hole we fished and there seemed to be a ton of fish in the area. We had 6 in the box by 11:00 and were out of there before it got hot. We ended up getting 18 bites, hooking 11, and landing 6! It was alot of fun and I hope the fishing will stay this way. With the water dropping the fish seem to be holding better in the area that we are fishing.

Today I guided Scott and Heather for salmon. I headed back to the Sacramento River as I was not to impressed with the Feather. We started out with Flatfish and almost immediately we got bit. On the first pass we hooked 3, but only landed one. We made another pass and landed another fish but after that I couldn't get them to touch a lure so we switched over to roe. There were fish rolling all over and eventually we got them to bite the roe and ended up landing 2 more fish. The action then slowed down so we headed up stream and found another school of fish and they were in the mood to bite! We made 2 more passes, hooking 5 fish and landing our last 2 for the box. It was a great day on the water and we ended up hooking 10-12 fish and putting 6 in the box.

Today I guided Dan, David, and Tom for salmon. I decided to switch it up a bit and head over to the Feather River. We launched at Vance Ave. and headed up to the West runway. I tied up some Flatfish and we went to work. Within minutes Dan had a fish on and it was soon in the box. We continued to work that stretch of the river and caught another fish and lost a couple others. We then moved over to the East runway and scratched up a couple others. We continued to work the upper stretch of the river and missed a few more bites and lost a couple others. We ended the morning with 4 fish in the box. There did not seem to be a lot of fish around today but I am sure that will change soon as the fish will start making their way into the area to spawn. Again, it was another great day on the water with plenty of action.

Today I guided "Spud Man" and Evan for salmon. We started with lures at the first spot and did not get bit, so Spuds switched to roe and put on a quick clinic! He was 2 passes and 2 fish in the box! We continued to fish a bit longer but Spuds was done and ready to head home. Any of you who know Spuds can attest to the fact that he is only good for a couple of hours on the water and then he is ready to head home. The client is always right, so we cleaned the fish and went on our way! The spudman was gracious enough to let Evan pose with his fish as he wasn't going to touch them. It was another great few hours on the water and is always a real treat to get Spuds in the boat!

Today I guided Steve and Mitch for salmon. We started out running Flatfish and hooked a few fish but they wouldn't stay on the line so we switched over to roe and again had the same problem. The fish were chrome and full of fight and did there best to get off of the line today. We ended the day hooking 9 salmon but only landed 2. We had a hell of a time getting them into the boat today but we had alot of fun doing it! I assume the water will drop soon and slow the fish down a bit making it easier to get them to the boat but who knows! Either way I will be out there trying to fill the box for the clients.

Thanks to all of the guys that came out for the opening day dove extravaganza! This year the hunting was tough as the weather was cold and we had a marine layer over us all morning, but most guys ended the hunt with 5 birds, while a few got less and others got more! It was the least ammount of birds that we have ever had on opening day but I guess it can't be a slaughter every year. Thanks again to all of you that came out for the hunt, it's always good to see you guys!

During the afternoon hunt Fred showed us his new decoy set up so I thought I would post the picture here for you guys to see as it seemed to be working well for Fred!
